I am grateful for forgiveness.
A friend of mine said something so profound that my heart almost jumped out. I asked him for advice on a topic that is hotly being debated in the community. I was interested in hearing his perspective and what he would do in this situation because he was all too familiar with the context. He's been through the pain of having to flee from his home.
He said to me, "The cycle of forgiveness has to start with one person. A lot of times I don't mind being that one person."
In that moment, I saw humility overpower ego. He showed me the essence of all faiths which is to be like the Merciful.
There is a famous quote that goes, "Humility is not thinking less of yourself: it is thinking yourself less".
Thank you Peter Khoury for teaching me a great lesson today.
