I am grateful for the gift of hospitality.
Today I broke my fast at a church. Our Muslim community center and the Episcopal church organized an interfaith community iftar (this is the time when we break our day long fast). In attendance were people of all faiths. We heard speeches from a Rabbi, Father and a Muslim Scholar. Each shared their thoughts on fasting and hospitality.
The rabbi said something that was so beautiful which is, "We are all in the relationship of encountering God. Unless we are devoted to each other, we can't find God." Then the Father added that "service to others binds us and that hospitality unites us".
Tonight I witnessed groups of people putting their differences aside, getting curious about each other, showing hospitality and showing devotion to each other. I could feel God's happiness in His creation today.
