The word resilience is showing up a lot these days. It means toughness.
There is no other time than in the month of Ramadan that I believe in my own resilience. The first day of the fast is always hard. I keep saying to myself, "How will I get through 30 days of no food and drink from sunrise to sunset?" I start counting off the days. But we humans are resilient and we surprise ourselves.
A friend of mine posted a picture of his seven year old daughter taking a power nap.
She has been fasting since the beginning of Ramadan on her own accord. I am so proud of you Maryam (Ameerah Ali).
Children are the biggest teachers of resilience.
I came across the statement that "we become resilient for others. When people are depending on us, we find strength we didn't know we had."
This sums up the whole purpose of Ramadan.
